How it works

From first conversation to first session

Here's exactly what happens when you reach out — so there are no surprises and nothing to be nervous about. Every step is low-pressure by design.

    Book a free consultation

20 minutes · video or in person

Use the contact form or email me. I'll reply within one business day to set up a relaxed conversation — by video, or at your home if you're in my service area. I'll ask about your goal, your history with exercise, any injuries or health conditions, your schedule, and where you'd like to train. You ask me anything. If I think I'm not the right fit, I'll say so and point you somewhere better. Nothing to sign, nothing to prepare.

  2. 2

    Assessment session

45–60 minutes · your home, a park, or video

Your first session is an assessment, not a workout you can fail. I watch how you move — sit and stand, reach overhead, balance on one foot, get down to the floor and back up — and we set a goal that's specific and realistic. We finish with a gentle introduction to two or three exercises so you know exactly what sessions will feel like.

  3. 3

    Your written plan

    Within a few days

I write a program that starts where you actually are: which movements, how many sessions a week, what to do between them, and one or two daily habits to start with. Nothing generic. You'll see it in a simple app (or on paper if you prefer) with a note on what to feel in each exercise.

  4. 4

    Coached sessions

    Usually 2× a week · 45 or 60 minutes

For in-home sessions I arrive with adjustable dumbbells, kettlebells, bands, a mat, and sliders. Each session has a check-in, a warm-up, 30–40 minutes of coached work, and a cool-down. Every rep is watched. For online clients, we meet on video and you film sets between sessions for feedback.

  5. 5

Weekly check-ins & monthly progress calls

    5 minutes a week

A short written check-in every week — what happened, what got in the way — and a specific reply from me. Monthly we look at the bigger picture: strength numbers, measurements if you're tracking them, energy, sleep, how clothes fit. The program changes as you do.

What I bring, and what you need

I bring: adjustable dumbbells, kettlebells in several sizes, resistance bands, a mat, sliders, and a suspension trainer if there's a doorway for it. Everything fits in one or two trips from the car.

You need: a clear spot about the size of a yoga mat, comfortable clothes, and water. If you already own equipment, we'll use it. If you later want gear for solo days, I'll tell you exactly what to buy and what size — resistance bands, then a kettlebell or two, then adjustable dumbbells.

Where sessions happen

  • Your home — living room, garage, backyard, apartment.
  • A nearby park — verified spots on each city page, roughly October through May.
  • Online — live video sessions plus programming and check-ins.

Questions about getting started

What should I wear or bring to the first session?

Comfortable clothes and shoes you can move in, and water. That's it — I bring all the equipment. If you have any guidance from your doctor or physical therapist, bring that too.

What equipment do you bring to in-home sessions?

Adjustable dumbbells, kettlebells in several sizes, resistance bands, a mat, sliders, and a suspension trainer when there's a suitable doorway. Enough to take anyone from a first session to genuinely strong.

How much space do I need?

A clear area about the size of a yoga mat with a little room to step forward and sideways — roughly 6 by 8 feet. Living rooms, garages, apartments, patios, and backyards all work.

What's the cancellation and rescheduling policy?

We agree on it at your consultation and I put it in writing before you commit to anything. When a week falls apart, switching an in-home session to video is usually the first option so you don't lose momentum.

Do I have to commit to a package at the consultation?

No. The consultation is a conversation. If you want to move forward, I'll explain the options and you can decide in your own time. See the pricing page for what affects cost.

Will I be sore after the first session?

Maybe mildly, mostly in your legs. The first session is deliberately light. Being unable to walk the next day is a sign of bad coaching, not good work.
