Personal Trainer in McKinney, TX — In-Home, Outdoor & Online
One-on-one coaching at your McKinney home, on the trails at Bonnie Wenk Park, or online. Beginner-first strength and weight-loss training for adults who want a coach, not a gym.

Personal training in McKinney, at your place
McKinney is the northern end of my regular route, and it's a great city to train in — big parks, a strong trail system, and neighborhoods where a garage or backyard session is easy to set up. If you live anywhere in McKinney, from the historic downtown area to the newer communities out west near Bonnie Wenk Park, I'll come to you.
How McKinney clients train with me:
- In your home. I bring adjustable dumbbells, kettlebells, bands, a mat, and sliders. Living rooms, garages, and backyards all work. See in-home personal training.
- At a McKinney park. Outdoor sessions run mainly October through May, early mornings in summer.
- Online. Custom programming, weekly check-ins, and live video sessions. See online coaching.
Outdoor training spots in McKinney
Verified against the City of McKinney's parks directory:
Bonnie Wenk Park. A 216-acre park at 2996 Virginia Parkway, and my favorite outdoor training location in the whole service area. It has three internal trails — the 1-mile Outer Loop, the 0.39-mile Pond Loop, and a 1-mile stretch of the Wilson Creek Trail — plus a free outdoor fitness court open to adults, wide multi-use fields, and restrooms. A typical session there: a lap of the Pond Loop to warm up, a strength circuit on the fitness court or the grass, and a cool-down on the Outer Loop with its creek bridges. Park hours are 5:30 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Towne Lake Park. Trails around the pond, sand volleyball, and open space near the pavilion. Good for interval walks and outdoor circuits, and a nice change of scenery from Bonnie Wenk.
Other McKinney parks with trails. The city's directory lists trail access at several neighborhood parks (A. Hardy Eubanks Jr. Park, Ash Woods Park, Aviator Park, and Finch Park among them). If one of these is close to your house, we can use it for between-session walks or a short outdoor session.
Note: Erwin Park is closed for a roughly year-long renovation at the time of writing, so I'm not scheduling sessions there.
Off-day walking routes in McKinney
Walking between sessions is where most of the weekly activity comes from, and McKinney has good options (verified on the City of McKinney's parks directory):
- Bonnie Wenk Outer Loop — a 1-mile hard-surface loop around the park's edge, with creek bridges and views of the pond. Two laps is an easy off-day.
- Bonnie Wenk Pond Loop — 0.39 miles, flat, good for a short walk with the kids or a warm-up before a solo workout.
- Wilson Creek Trail — a 1-mile stretch runs through Bonnie Wenk, with a separate section at 2001 South Central Expressway.
- Towne Lake Park trails — around the pond, with sand volleyball and picnic areas if you're bringing family along.
- Neighborhood parks with trails — Finch Park, Aviator Park, Ash Woods Park, and A. Hardy Eubanks Jr. Park all list trails in the city directory, so there's likely one close to home.
Bonnie Wenk opens at 5:30 a.m., which makes early summer walks realistic before the heat.

Who I work with in McKinney
Beginners. If gyms feel intimidating and you'd rather learn in private, an in-home session in McKinney is a comfortable place to start. See beginner fitness.
Women who want a female trainer. Much of my practice is women who want to learn to lift from a woman. Read about training for women.
Busy professionals and commuters. McKinney residents who commute south often only have early mornings. I hold 6 a.m. slots for that reason. See training for busy professionals.
Adults 40+. Two coached strength sessions a week protects muscle, bone density, and balance for the long run.
A sample outdoor session at Bonnie Wenk Park
Bonnie Wenk is the best-equipped outdoor training spot in my whole service area, so here's what a 60-minute session there looks like:
- Warm-up (8 minutes): the 0.39-mile Pond Loop at a brisk walk — enough to get the blood moving and check in on your week.
- Movement prep (5 minutes) on the grass by the fitness court: hip circles, leg swings, bodyweight squats, reaches.
- Strength block (30 minutes): a mix of the free outdoor fitness court (step-ups, incline push-ups, hanging or supported rows) and the equipment I've brought — goblet squats, kettlebell deadlifts, farmer's carries on the open fields.
- Finisher (5–8 minutes): an interval walk on part of the 1-mile Outer Loop, over the creek bridges.
- Cool-down (5 minutes): stretching on the mat and a note on your between-session walks.
The park opens at 5:30 a.m., which makes early-morning sessions possible even in summer before the heat builds.
Training around a McKinney schedule
Many McKinney clients commute south toward Plano, Frisco, or Dallas, which means the realistic windows are early mornings before the drive or evenings after it. I hold 6 and 7 a.m. slots for the commuters and early-evening slots for people who'd rather train after dinner. Parents in McKinney's newer neighborhoods often prefer a mid-morning session after school drop-off, and those exist too.
The in-home model matters most for the commuters: a session in your garage at 6 a.m. is finished before you'd have reached a gym.
What a personal trainer costs in McKinney
McKinney searches for "personal trainer" carry real intent, and cost is usually the first question. Market context, since few local trainers publish rates: Dallas-area trainers charge roughly $35–$90 per hour on Thumbtack's marketplace, and the U.S. average is about $55 per session (My PT Hub) — both accessed September 2026. In-home trainers usually sit toward the middle-to-upper part of that range because they bring the equipment and absorb the drive north.
My pricing: per session for in-home and park training, with lower rates for weekly packages; a flat monthly fee for online coaching; hybrid plans in between. I give you an exact figure at the free consultation and put it in writing. Beginners pay the same rate as everyone else, equipment is included, and rescheduling terms are agreed before you commit. Details on the pricing page and in the Dallas cost guide.

Personal training in McKinney: frequently asked questions
Do you come to homes in McKinney?
Yes — anywhere in McKinney. I bring all equipment; you need a clear spot roughly the size of a yoga mat in your living room, garage, or backyard.
Where do you train outdoors in McKinney?
Bonnie Wenk Park (2996 Virginia Parkway) is my main spot — it has a 1-mile Outer Loop, a Pond Loop, the Wilson Creek Trail, and a free outdoor fitness court. Towne Lake Park is my second choice. Outdoor sessions run mainly October through May.
Can you use the fitness court at Bonnie Wenk Park?
Yes. The City of McKinney's outdoor fitness court at Bonnie Wenk Park is free and open to adults, and it's a great base for a bodyweight-and-band session. I still bring kettlebells and dumbbells for the strength work.
How much does a personal trainer cost in McKinney?
It depends on session length, package size, and in-home versus online. I explain my rates at your free consultation; see the pricing page for what drives cost and the blog for Dallas-area market ranges.
Do you offer online coaching for McKinney residents?
Yes. Online coaching includes a program written for your equipment and schedule, weekly check-ins, and live video sessions — on its own or combined with one in-home session a week.
